Job title: Mentor for Concrete Queenz
Reporting to: Executive Director
Wage: Volunteer
Hours: ~6 hours per month for a minimum 3 month commitment. Option to extend to 6 months, and 9 months. Each school year the program runs for 9 months (October-June)

Qualifications:
1. Passion for skateboarding and a genuine desire to share your love of the sport with others, particularly underserved girls from diverse backgrounds.
2. Previous experience working with youth in a mentoring, coaching, or teaching capacity, preferably in a recreational or educational setting.
3. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with participants, parents, staff members, and volunteers.
4. Patience, empathy, and the ability to provide constructive feedback and encouragement in a supportive manner.
5. Knowledge of basic skateboarding techniques and safety practices, with the ability to demonstrate and teach fundamental skills to beginners.
6. Ability to maintain a positive attitude and stay composed in challenging or high-energy situations.
7. Reliable and punctual, with a commitment to attending weekly skateboarding sessions and other program activities.
8. Willingness to undergo background checks and screening processes as required by Concrete Queenz.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
1. Provide weekly skateboarding instruction to a group of 1-5 girls, focusing on fundamental skills, safety techniques, and confidence-building exercises.
2. Create a welcoming and inclusive environment where all participants feel supported, encouraged, and respected.
3. Follow all safety protocols and guidelines provided by Concrete Queenz to ensure the well-being of participants during skateboarding sessions.
4. Review and familiarize yourself with the Concrete Queenz Mentor Information, including safety procedures, emergency protocols, and behavioral expectations.
5. Tailor instruction and support to meet the individual needs and skill levels of each participant, adapting teaching methods as necessary to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
6. Serve as a positive role model and mentor, demonstrating good sportsmanship, resilience, and teamwork both on and off the skateboard.
7. Foster a sense of camaraderie and friendship among participants, encouraging collaboration,communication, and mutual support within the group.
8. Assist with the setup, organization, and cleanup of skateboarding sessions, ensuring that equipment is properly maintained and stored.
9. Communicate regularly with the executive director and other mentors to provide feedback, share insights,and address any concerns or challenges that arise.
10. Attend mentor training sessions, staff meetings, and other professional development opportunities
provided by Concrete Queenz to enhance your skills and knowledge as a mentor.
